One Side

Relationships of all kinds can be totally one sided. This is a very bad thing at best it can lead to hurt feelings and resentment. At worst depression, anger , hate etc. its a very sad situation. Why does this happen and what can you do.

An elderly lady gets up bright and early one morning. She puts on a new dress, cleans her house and bakes a cake. Her son is coming to -day . After all he is a doctor you know. She is is so excited. Cherry cheese cake is his favorite. Her friend calls to invite her bowling this afternoon. Oh no I can't she says my son is coming to-day. All  day she waits and her son does not come. A medical emergency you say, lives to save. nope a golf game. He doesn't bother to phone.

Now from the outside looking in. What an ungrateful son. The poor mother probably sacrificed to put him through school. What a rat. Now to the mother I wouldn't be baking that ingrate any cheese cake go bowling forget about him. he's not worth it. Easy for you to say.

The opposite can happen too. A kid tries hard to please his mother. Nothing he does is good enough. He wins football awards and trophies. Everyone in his school is proud of him. His mother doesn't even bother to come. He gets high honors and gets a special award , his mother does not come. You are worthless says his mother. I wish I never had you . You are a disgrace. Nobody can figure out why this kid is depressed and has episodes of rage. Must be a chemical imbalance. Time to give the kid mood altering drugs.

I love you more the life he says. I couldn't live without you. You are my world. you mean everything to me. I could not survive if you left says the man. I don't love you any more . I want my freedom. Please let me go says the woman. Its not another man i just want to be free to live my life that's all. I will try harder to please you says the man.

A boy really likes the girl who works at Dairy Queen. Everyday he stops by for a small cone just to see her. He learns she gets off work at 3:30 so he sneaks around the corner to take her picture. He enlarges it and puts it on his wall. One day he decides to take the same bus she does. He hides in the back . He discovers where she lives. He passes her house and even waits outside sometimes. He finds out her phone number and phones. Someone says hello was it her he hangs up right away. She has no idea. 

Debbie and Diane are friends. Debbie phones me everyday says Diane and I really wish she wouldn't. Sometimes I don't answer the phone, then she wonders if I am ok and comes to visit . I don't answer the door. I wish she would just back off a bit she is driving me nuts. Diane is my best friend and I would never want to lose this beautiful friendship. I am so grateful for such a wonderful friend as Diane says Debbie.
